Mia is a mama of two originally from Montreal, Canada, now living in Norway.

Mia is a certified doula, Sacred Birthworker, and a Mama Blessing ceremony facilitator who is deeply passionate about physiological birth and supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Her work extends to facilitating women’s circles, retreats, and organizing wellness events and festivals in Norway, Portugal, Canada, and beyond.

With a deep love for art and holistic psychology, Mia is completing her Master’s degree in Art Therapy, weaving together creativity, ritual, authentic relating, and evidence-based therapeutic practice. She facilitates Prenatal Art Therapy sessions and is dedicated to creating meaningful spaces where women can reconnect with themselves, cultivate supportive sisterhood, and embrace the transformative journey of motherhood.

In this heartfelt episode, Mia shares the story of her daughter’s profoundly easeful and mystical home water birth, which unfolded in less than 90 minutes. She reflects on the power of surrender, the innate intelligence of the birthing body, and the simple yet profound practices that allowed her to experience birth as peaceful, instinctive, and deeply empowering.

Mia explores the mindset shifts that shaped her experience, including replacing the idea of contractions with expansions, and how softening into each wave allowed her body to lead the way. She shares what it felt like to experience the ferguson reflex, welcome her daughter through a gentle partial lotus birth, and emerge with a profound sense of peace, awe, and trust in the wisdom of birth.

She also reflects on the magic of the first hours postpartum, resting in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by candles and soft galaxy lights, holding and breastfeeding her baby while her doula filled the room with gentle guitar songs from the Amazon jungle, creating an atmosphere of deep peace, love, and reverence.

This episode is an invitation to reimagine what birth can be when women feel deeply safe, supported, and connected to their own inner knowing.

Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Carla

Carla is an Italian–Brazilian soprano mama of two based in Berlin. She’s married to the wonderful Hungarian Tamas and she recently completed her training as a psychoanalyst and is preparing a new series of concerts and recitals beginning in October. 

In 2022 she welcomed her first child, Sofia, in a home birth that she shared on this podcast. And this May she gave birth to her son Piero, a big boy of 4.4 kg, also at home with a devoted, loving team. 

Both births were among the most challenging and empowering experiences of her life.

Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Kayla.

Kayla from a mama of two from South Africa and this is her second natural home birth that she shares on the poddy.

I actually know Kayla through The Sacred Birth Worker Mentorship that she joined at the end of her first pregnancy with her little boy. She ended up birthing in the first weeks of the mentorship and found so much support in our community and sisterhood.

She shares that she thoroughly enjoy and respect birth, and therefore she decided to became a Sacred Birth Worker. She wants women to know that natural birth is their birth right and to feel empowered by the life-changing experience of birth.

Her second baby arrived fast and furiously, a truly precipitous birth where the midwife never made it and her baby was born partially en caul and it was one of the most beautiful experiences of Kaylas life.

Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Elena
Elena is a mama of one from the UK.
She is an entrepreneur and a founder of two companies, and someone who changed her mind about home birth at 37 weeks pregnant.

She’d spent most of her pregnancy assuming she’d be in a birth centre. Then something changed which she shares about in this episode and she decided to birth at home.
By the time labour started, she was at home, in a pool, comb in hand, positive affirmations stuck to the wall in front of her.
When her waters broke it was filled with meconium, the pressure to transfer was real. The medical system pulls hard in those moments. Elena held her ground anyway - not because she was reckless, but because she had done the work, she trusted her body, and she believed her baby was strong. This is the story that unfolds.
She’s here to share what that it actually felt like, her fears, the preparation, the moments where it could have gone a different way, and why she’d do it all again at home.

Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Lonneke.
This is her 2nd time on the podcast. Her first episode is one of our top 10 episodes of all time called “The Magic of Surrendering to Birth”.
Lonneke is an intuitive mama of three children from the Netherlands.

Her first birth awakened such a deep inner knowing that it transformed her life entirely. She went from being a military officer to an herbalist, and built an apothecary especially for mothers.

All of her children were born at home with just her husband present. With each birth, she dove deeper into her intuition, which ultimately led her to a wild pregnancy for her third child. She received the clear message that her daughter did not want to be born in water, which brought a new experience after two previous water births.
