In this episode of Embracing Magick, Steph and Lizzy are joined by author and initiated Greek priestess Elyse Welles for a fascinating conversation about ancient Greek spirituality, sacred land, deities and what it means to reconnect with practices and knowledge that have existed for thousands of years.

Elyse shares her experiences of initiation, working with spirits of place and the Greek gods, encounters at sacred sites, the relationship between witchcraft and the land, and some extraordinary personal experiences along the way - including the moment she felt a dragon step onto her chest.

We explore what the ancient world can teach modern witches, the ways the land communicates with us, forgotten priestess traditions, sacred places and why these old relationships with the natural world may still have something important to teach us today.

In this special episode of Embracing Magick, we sit down with Amy from Amy’s Crypt inside The Cage of St Osyth, the historic village lock-up long associated with the 1582 St Osyth witch trials.

Together, we explore witchcraft, paranormal investigation and the memory of place. Can buildings absorb the emotions and experiences of the people who once lived, suffered or were imprisoned within them? And can remembrance, ritual and restoration begin to change the energy a place carries?

Amy shares the extraordinary story of becoming the custodian of The Cage, the strange signs that appeared before she and Jared bought it, the paranormal activity experienced during its restoration, and her connection with Ursula Kemp, the local healer who was accused of witchcraft and executed during the St Osyth witch trials.

We also discuss responsible paranormal investigation, the relationship between witchcraft and spirit communication, haunted history, the persecution of accused witches, and the importance of restoring dignity to the real people behind these stories.

During our visit, Amy invited us to create a ceremony and altar inside The Cage to honour Ursula, Elizabeth Bennet and all those affected by the witch trials. We share how the ceremony came together through cleansing, veiling, elemental offerings, remembrance and an unbinding ritual created specifically for the space.

A huge thank you to Amy and Jared for welcoming us into The Cage, sharing its history with us and trusting us to create something so meaningful within its walls. It was a privilege to spend time in this extraordinary place and contribute to the next chapter of its story.
