  • All Your Favorite 2000s Indie Trends Are Coming Back + Riot Fest Lineup Reaction & More

    2026-05-29 | 1 h 40 min.
+ Zach Bryan is alternative, Olivia Rodrigo is Smashing Pumpkins, or is it Foo Fighters.
+ New Ear & Gabe Mendez albums inspire some Postal Service and Iron & Wine talk which in no time leads to Slayyyter, Angine de Poitrine and LCD Soundsystem and lots more 2000s indie bands and bands who are doing that sound now.

This was also big week for festival announcements, including Riot Fest, Levitation, Tom Morello’s Power to the People with Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews & many more, and of course Trump’s thing (that even more artists dropped off since we recorded this), and we talked about all four of those (but mostly Riot Fest), and the new Kurt Vile, Iceage, Balmora & Boards of Canada albums, the American Music Awards, and more more

PLUS: We discuss classic 1996 albums turning 30 this year by (Riot Fest headliner) TOOL and WILCO

  • Car Seat Headrest 'Backlash,' 5 Great Rock Records of 2026, 3 Drake albums, a Shoegaze fest

    2026-05-22 | 1 h 8 min.
Dave went to the NYC edition of Slide Away fest with Swirlies, Chapterhouse, Nothing & Hum. Andrew listened to all 3 Drake albums. Dave lists 5 (actually more) great rock records that came out this year in addition to Zach Bryan and Joyce Manor, and Andrew names his favorite of the year, one he likes even more than Ratboys.  We talk the seemingly controversial re-recorded Car Seat Headrest album, run down this week's new albums from Radiohead's Ed O'Brien, Hyd, a new album MJ Lenderman plays on & more + this week's news and some other stuff too.

  • I listened to the whole Noah Kahan album

    2026-05-15 | 1 h 32 min.
+ Phoebe Bridgers began making her long-awaited return, Charli XCX stoked the flames of "Rock Music" discourse, new Kevin Morby, and three new side projects with some familiar faces from the emo/post-hardcore world all popped up at once. Dave and I talk about all of that, hacky sacks and more on this week's episode of BV Weekly.

AND: we end the episode talking two more classic albums turning 30 this year by Less Than Jake and Aphex Twin

We also announce a special BrooklynVegan-presented Swervedriver tour. All dates and info here:
