“One of the most important things we need to do in order to love each other is to really listen to each other, to come to know each other so we can be present in a loving way. The Dalai Lama when he listens to someone he sits way on the edge of his chair, listening with his whole body. When you share something with Ram Dass, you never think he’s thinking about something else. That’s what we need to be for each other. We need to be here now.” –Mirabai Bush

“We don’t deny the hurt or regret we may feel if it is our own action, but we don’t need to build on that and solidify it. Sometimes we do that so much that our whole sense of who we are and all that we’ll ever be collapses around some comment. That’s what I meant when I said loving-kindness is like a stretch, it’s like asking yourself, ‘anything else happen today? What’s the good within me?’”–Sharon Salzberg
