On this 68th episode of Good Timin’, author and Endless Summer Quarterly Editor-in-Chief David Beard joins us to discuss his new book, “All Summer Long- Conversations with the Beach Boys from Surfin’ to SMILE”. The book is an in-depth exploration of The Beach Boys' evolution from 1961-1967, featuring more than three decades of interviews that David has conducted with band members and integral figures in the group’s history, including Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, Bruce Johnston, Jan Berry, Dean Torrence, Marilyn Wilson-Rutherford, Glen Campbell, and many others.

On this 67th episode of Good Timin’, we host our own “Beach Boys Bracket Battle”, where we as a group match up 64 of our favorite songs from the band against each other in a March Madness style tournament to determine a champion. In addition to this, we also briefly discuss Bruce Johnston’s recent departure from the Beach Boys touring band and share our thoughts on his many contributions to the group over the years.

On this 66th episode of Good Timin’, we share and discuss our own personal tracklist changes we would have made to the original Beach Boys studio albums. This includes removing or replacing tracks, adding previously unreleased material, and resequencing songs to create a more consistent and cohesive listening experience. We also briefly discuss which album cuts we would have liked to see released as singles.

On this 65th episode of Good Timin’, we discuss the upcoming Beach Boys box set, We Gotta Groove, which primarily covers the group’s recording output from 1976 to 1977.  Along with sharing our general thoughts on the set, we also run through the tracklist and highlight which songs and material that we’re each looking forward to hearing the most. Lastly, we close out the episode by briefly discussing several other Beach Boys box sets released over the years, including Good Vibrations and Feel Flows.
