Misha Mansoor is the founding member of progressive metal band Periphery, a band he formed in 2005 who are known for violently infectious melody and deceptively complex music. A devout revhead and gear head - the man has had a hand in designing everything from drum libraries to pedals - Misha reflects on the songwriting techniques Periphery stole from Nirvana, and why the collision of art and engineering sits at the heart of almost everything he loves. We also dig into A Pale White Dot, Periphery's deeply personal exploration of loneliness, solitude, grief and our tiny place in the universe; why the band scrapped an album when COVID forced them to work remotely; the weird history of djent; and why, after more than two decades of making music, his best advice is still remarkably simple: do it for the love.

Shakewell broke through in a big way as a rapper alongside underground rap luminaries like his label bosses $uicideboy$. The thing is, he earned his stripes as a hardcore bassist in Betrayal. Rather than repeat himself, he's now brought his unique flavour of rap back to his hardcore roots alongside Drain shredder Cody Chavez on the brand new Slugeater EP.
