  In this episode we explore nomadic grassroots innovations in the maritime shipping sector together with Human geographer, sustainability transitions researcher, and sailor Hanna Bach, who recently defended her thesis, titled ”Navigating Sustainable Shipping: Multi-scalar transition dynamics in the maritime shipping sector”. For her PhD project, Hanna has investigated the influence of global and national policy incentives on development and implementation of more sustainable technologies, as well as how community-initiated bottom-up grassroots innovations form and develop in the maritime shipping sector. Her research interests also include how we can make sectors that are specifically hard to decarbonise, such as the shipping industry, more sustainable, as well as how well-established global structures influence sustainability processes in international sectors.
