Batman the Animated Series Podcast

Our hosts return to the Podtower to watch and review, A Knight of Shadows Part 2.

Alex and Will discuss the many fights in this episode, the Jack Kirby odes, why the Philosopher's Stone looks like an XBOX, and its very anti-climatic ending.

Plus, the Justice League face Temu Uruk Khai, Martian Manhunter is forced to look at Mars from his bedroom window, Batman fights a chair, and Etrigan one-ups Martian Manhunter at being the saddest and loneliest one of them all.

Our hosts are cast back to Camelot and summon their inner podcast demons as they dive into A Knight of Shadows, Part 1.

Alex and Will explore the curse that binds Jason Blood to Etrigan, how the story differs from the comics, why this episode has some Da Vinci Code and The Mummy vibes, and the DCAU introductions of Merlin, Morgan Le Fay, and…the Playboy Mansion?!

Plus, Batman proves he’s age-blind, Maxie Zeus makes a comeback, Merlin demonstrates that he doesn’t quite understand how curses work, and Martian Manhunter is reunited with his nagging wife and explains why he’s been gone for hundreds of years.

Our hosts are still trapped in an alternate dimension as they wrap up this surprisingly good two-parter with Legends Part 2.

Alex and Will discuss the episode’s big twist and just how messed up it really is. But the more they think about the plot and start asking questions, the more it begins to fall apart… much like little Ray’s illusion!

They also ponder an important question: what if Batman had been in this episode? Could the Caped Crusader have made a better lead for this two-parter than Green Lantern?

Plus, Martian Manhunter confuses two very different human emotions, The Flash gets himself an imaginary girlfriend, and a brand-new villain is born: The Piler!

Our hosts are transported to an alternate dimension where the Justice League has been replaced by a much more sexist and significantly lamer version of itself as they review, Legends Part 1.

Alex and Will discuss the Justice Society of America, their comic book connections, the voice cast, and the Flash comic that inspired this two-parter. They also discover that this universe is suspiciously full of white people and rampant misogyny. So, there’s that…

Plus, Green Lantern learns that his childhood heroes are racist, a new German cookie shape is discovered, Batman and Superman get Watchtower wasted whilst the team is gone, and the Music Master turns out to be Hans Zimmer driving around in a giant dildo.

Our hosts return to the Podtower and finish off this “sick” two parter with their review of Fury Part 2.

Alex and Will discuss how Aresia’s plan to get rid of all the men in the world is ultimately dooming everyone to extinction, but what to do they know? They’re just a couple of stupid men who host a podcast!

Our hosts also think that Hippolyta completely made up the story about the man saving Aresia when she was a little girl. Plus, a new hero named Bus Man arrives, Solomon Grundy shares his bedroom schedule, and The Flash reminds us all why Aresia was right the whole time.
