Chasing K-Dramas

Welcome to YOUR Korean podcast drama!
Sarangees! We’re reacting to episodes 3 and 4 of The Scandal, and we have some thoughts. This show is visually stunning, and we’re seeing some brilliant acting from our leads, Son Ye-jin and Ji Chang-wook, but we find the story and the direction are confusing and uneven at times. We’ll see how the rest of the episodes pan out! Please share your thoughts below!

Welcome to YOUR Korean drama podcast!
Sarangees! We’re BACK with episode 5 of CLOY, and OMG, Se-ri’s fallen hard for her North Korean man. We’re also falling hard too. That swoony campfire scene by the train?!? ::SWOON::
We pick up where Jeong-hyeok finds Se-ri in the marketplace with the scented candle, and then they turn the corner to find Seo Dan waiting on his doorstep. OMO OMO! Jeong-hyeok stumbles through, explaining who Se-ri is, but Seo Dan does not care AT ALL. He drives Dan back to Pyongyang and gets roped into dinner with her crazy mom and uncle. Then he makes a pit stop at his parents' house and stays the night. Meanwhile, Se-ri is back home waiting for him, and she’s drinking HEAVILY with beer cans lined up like the 38th parallel. Lord.
Jeong-hyeok hatches a new plan to get Se-ri home, which means taking the train to Pyongyang to get her passport. The train breaks down, and they're stuck for 16 hours with nothing to do but sit with all those confusing feelings. And of course, since this is a K-drama, baby scammer Seung-joon is on that same train. Once they finally reach Pyongyang, Se-ri's brother tracks him down, and that's the exact moment Seung-joon spots Se-ri and drags her into an elevator. Enter one very PROTECTIVE Jeong-hyeok, and a cliffhanger for the ages.
Our deep dive this week is on the ever-so-handsome Hyun Bin!
Strap in, Sarangees. It's bananas.

Welcome to YOUR Korean drama podcast!
Hello Sarangees! We’re back chasing the swooniest drama ever! This week, episode 4 of CLOY gets crazy with hijinks when Se-ri realizes that she may be stuck in North Korea for longer!
Picking up right where we left off, Se-ri and Jeong-hyeok get caught kissing by the coast guard, only for her ride home to sail off without her. Furious and desperate, Se-ri tries to paraglide back to South Korea, which leads to one of the show's sweetest (or cheesiest) moments yet. And don't worry, we'll discuss! Back in the village, Se-ri wins over the ajummas. She and Jeong-hyeok keep getting closer over clam bulgogi and a very confusing finger-heart, forcing Jeong-hyeok to finally admit to Company Five that he already has a REAL fiancée, Seo Dan, who's making her way to the village to reunite with him. Meanwhile, Se-ri's brothers back in Seoul continue plotting as we learn about her birth secret, and Seung-joon keeps acclimating to his new identity in North Korea. The episode ends with a swoony marketplace reunion and a flashback revealing that Jeong-hyeok and Se-ri's history goes back way further than either of them realized!
For this week's segment, we’re doing a deep dive into our amazing female lead, Son Ye-jin!

Welcome to YOUR Korean podcast drama!
Sarangees! Unnies React is BACK with The Scandal, the sexy sageuk starring Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, and Nana. Loosely based on the French novel Dangerous Liaisons by Laclos, this adaptation is set in Joseon Korea, where women were bound to strict Confucian values. Noblewoman Lady Cho challenges playboy Cho Won to a dangerous game: seduce the virtuous widow Ahn Hui-yeon. If he wins, Lady Cho will sleep with him and if he loses, he has to seduce her concubine, So-ok. It's nothing like the dramas we've chased in the past, so we're excited to dig into something different!

Welcome to YOUR Korean drama podcast!
Sarangees! It’s time for episode 3 of Crash Landing on You, and we are LOVING all the swoony moments our dear Captain Ri is serving up! We love them so much, we had to create our SWOON TRACKER! SIGH!
This episode gives us a real look at everyday life in North Korea as Se-ri gets closer to Jeong-hyeok and her Company Five dwarves/ducklings or dwarflings! She's revealed to the whole village as Jeong-hyeok's fiancée, which sends the ajummas into a full jealous tizzy. We also meet our second female lead, Seo Dan — who turns out to be Jeong-hyeok's ACTUAL fiancée — and watch Seung-joon touch down in Pyongyang. Meanwhile, Jeong-hyeok keeps digging into the spiky "trucks of doom" (aka the Decepticons), and we meet Man-bok, the army wiretapper Lunatic Lt. is forcing into doing his dirty work. By the end, Se-ri and Jeong-hyeok finally make it to the boat that could get her home — but a coast guard check nearly blows the whole thing, leading to a tropey ending that had us squealing!
For this week's segment, we’re dropping facts about North Korea! What world are we living in?!
