Episode 26: No More 'REAR' Button! Ultimate Volkswagen VW ID. Four-Window Switch Retrofit
Did you know that 46% of VW ID. drivers prefer 4 buttons? Are you tired of fumbling with the VW ID.4’s two-window switch and that finicky rear button?
In this episode, Wes and Jan walk you through an in-depth, real-world retrofit: upgrading to a true four-switch layout—using high-quality Audi (or VW/Skoda) parts and a custom 3D-printed trim.

Episode 25: VW ID.4's Biggest Problem SOLVED! Real Steering Wheel Buttons!
Jan and Wes have successfully replaced the much maligned capacitive
touch steering wheel controls on our ID.4s with REAL MECHANICAL BUTTONS!
Here is the discussion on VWIDTalk:
https://www.vwidtalk.com/threads/i-have-real-steering-wheel-buttons.18466/
This requires the buttons, trim, and an airbag removal tool, and some
care. The buttons need a small modification in order to work.
Please post in the comments if you know of newer mechanical buttons that
fit, but use CAN to communicate like our current capacitive buttons.

Episode 24: No Drills, Just Thrills – The Maker Who 3D-Printed His Way into VW Owners’ Hearts
In-depth discussion with Yuri (aka Yurik) from YuriKAccessories about making thoughtful and useful aftermarket accessories for EVs, such as the ID.4, ID.Buzz, Q4 e-tron, Hyundai Ioniq, BMW i3/i4/iX, Honda Prologue/Acura ZDX, and even the Fisker Ocean!

Yuri makes great things from protective poor-weather charge port covers to storage trays, from better cup holders to glove box organizers, sunglasses holders, and even glow-in-the-dark stickers for those ID.4s without backlit sliders.
...but perhaps his piece de resistance is his "no screw front license plate holder" for the ID.4 and ID.Buzz. It's a work of art.

Episode 23: Button Autopsy: Inside VW Buttons and the Rise and Fall of Capacitive Controls
Volkswagen's transition to capacitive touch controls in models like the ID.4 and Golf Mk8 sparked significant debate among drivers and industry experts. Many users found these touch-sensitive interfaces less intuitive and more distracting compared to traditional physical buttons.
If you’ve ever wished your VW buttons clicked instead of just blinked, this episode is for you.
We open up (literally!) the world of buttons in VW electric vehicles. From Audi’s premium clicky switches, via Skoda's switches to ID.4’s minimal capacitive panels. Jan and Wes break down the engineering, cost, and user experience behind each type.
🟢 Audi Q4 e-tron Climate Module - High-end physical buttons with premium tactile feedback
🟢 Škoda Enyaq / Škoda L-Roc Button Module - Mechanical piano-style buttons
🟢 VW ID.4 Steering Wheel Capacitive Buttons - Haptic feedback powered by a motor
🟢 VW ID.4 Capacitive Climate Strip (Below Infotainment) - No haptics, no movement—just capacitive sensors
